Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport Runway Concrete Repair

This aging runway at the former Williams Field Air Force Base had numerous concrete spalls, old spall repairs and cracks that were in need of repair. Through onsite testing at this airport it was found that only one repair product withstood the punishment of the impact from landing aircraft over the 5 year test period. The product was TechCrete, a hot-applied synthetic resin compound containing chopped glass fiber, polymer rubber and high quality aggregate. This material has excellent adhesion and remains flexibility yet has a high tensile strength.

This is only one of several that totaled over 340 Sq. Ft. that was scheduled for repair.

Arizona Repair Masons’ crew removed over 340 square feet of broken concrete and completed the repairs using the TechCrete material. They also repaired over 820 lineal feet of concrete cracks in the runway using Crafco Polyflex crack sealant. The repairs needed to be completed on a rather tight schedule because of having to shut down one of the three runways for use during the repairs. Even though the work had to be shut down for 2 days because of rain The Arizona Repair Masons’ team was able to complete the project ahead of schedule enabling them to reopen the runway.

Saw cutting the repair area prior to jack hammering out the broken concrete.

The TechCrete material is heated to 400° F prior to installation and then poured into the repair area and leveled.

This a finished repair area with the TechCrete installed and a high quality aggregate on the top to provide a friction surface.

This is only one of the many types of concrete repairs and renovations projects that Arizona Repair Masons has completed throughout the state using leading edge technologies and materials.
